Bye George is a spoken word tribute to George Lunn, written in 2015 and first performed at the Merge Festival. It is an honour to be able to bring it to Greenland Dock, where the story began.

Sammy writes, performs and produces. She is also co-artist director of shadow theatre company Shadowboxer Theatre and has recently made work for The Little Angel Theatre and The Battersea Arts Centre.

Sammy studied at LAMDA and Manchester University and has created shows for Old Vic New Voices, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Royal Opera House, VAULT Festival, The Rye Festival and The Old Red Lion. Her work includes short-stories, radio, shadow puppetry, immersive and site specific productions.

A proud resident of Greenland Dock, Sammy is passionate about the community, heritage and wildlife here.

The photographs shown in the ViewMaster here are selected from Rotherhithe Photographs, first published in 1975, is a personal documentation of the south London docklands: a cut-off, self sufficient, largely working-class society, seen between the closure of the docks which had been the area’s “raison d’etre”, and the consumerist redevelopment of the later Thatcher years.

Geoff is a documentary and reportage photographer, based in London.

His archives cover commissioned editorial photography, personal and self assigned work, and architectural photographs taken for publishers. Geoff’s photographs are in the National Portrait Gallery collection in London, the Museum of London collection, the London Guildhall Archive, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography and private collections.

Grow onto me is an imagined conversation between human and non-human residents of Greenland Dock. Moored boats are clunking for the gulls and waterfowls to chirp their returns. The water murmurs of the past, rising from and falling back into the rustles of the wind and the roars of airplanes. Runners and cyclists pass by, their chatter speaks of dreams. A click, a scratch, a swoosh, the story is not finished.

Anna is a sound artist and architectural designer. Using the site as a resource, their practice explores how sound, story telling and spatial intervention can become a tool for city-reading and city-making. Through joining Yes Make, Anna has also become part of a team creating community structures and urban spaces from repurposed trees found around London.
